Inspect & prepare

We check the floor, punch down nails and carry out any board or block repairs needed before sanding begins.

Sand

We sand in stages from coarse to fine grit, removing old finishes, stains and scratches to reveal clean timber – edges and corners included.

Fill & refine

Gaps and cracks can be filled to suit your floor, followed by a final fine sand for a smooth, even surface.

Seal & finish

We apply your chosen lacquer, oil or hardwax oil in multiple coats for a durable finish that looks great for years.

How much dust does floor sanding create?

Very little. We use the Bona dust-free sanding system, combined with Festool dust extraction for confined spaces, which captures 99% of dust for the least disruption possible.

How long does floor sanding take?

It depends on the size of the area, the condition of the floor and the finish you choose. We'll give you a clear timescale when we quote.

Can my floor be sanded more than once?

Solid wood floors can usually be sanded many times over their life. For engineered floors it depends on the thickness of the top wear layer – we'll check this before we start.

Which finish should I choose?

Lacquers give a very hard-wearing surface for busy areas, while oils and hardwax oils give a natural look and are easy to spot repair. We'll recommend the best option for your floor and how you use the room.

Can you repair damaged boards or blocks?

Yes. Using traditional methods, we source replacement or reclaimed boards and blocks to create the perfect match to your existing floor before sanding.
